I was just wondering how people stayed connected with colleagues with not spending as much (or indeed any) time in the staffroom anymore?

It’s a great point Samara and very much something I miss from the normal working environments, either in the Barnardo’s office or in the school environments.

I think it’s a great idea to schedule in some virtual tea breaks, keeping connected and relaxing. It’s not ideal online of course but it keeps us safe in these times.

I miss those moments too and really value the greetings in the morning with a little banter at different times in the day, together with those weekly meetings and coffee times.

Totally agree and that is the moments that can sometimes get you through some difficult times / days. Especially when your able to have a laugh and lift the load too.

I was really concerned about how I would manage back in March 2020 when we started working from home, as I get so much out of that human connection and interaction. Even though it's not the same, I have found new ways to keep things going in this area. Sometimes myself and a colleague will have a coffee, walk and talk or a catch up meeting whilst we walk. Other times we'll schedule in a team social via video link or have catch up calls. Going for a short walk during daylight hours just to blow away the cobwebs really helps and saying hello to people you pass in the street and noticing nature more has been lovely. I've got to know my neighbours too as I've actually been home more to see them out and about which has made my neighbourhood feel more like a community. It's not the same, although I think we've all had the opportunity to press a 'reset button' and look at new ways of doing things by finding the blessings amidst the chaos.
